Royal Society Honours, next ORSNZ conference, Time-series Analytics collection, re-registration
Royal Society Honours: The Operations Research Society New Zealand (ORSNZ) is honored to share that our former president, Prof Andy Philpott, is a newly elected Fellow of the Academy of the Royal Society Te Apārangi for his leading research in the field of optimisation in electricity markets and other industries .

Andy’s work on stochastic optimisation has been cited more than 6,100 times. One of its most important applications is the modelling of electricity markets (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBr7NIYMvBU), which is currently applied in New Zealand, Chile, Brazil, France, and Canada. Other applications include route planning in yacht racing, the pulp and paper industry, and the rollout of broadband in New Zealand.
